Sensei Robin Brandon Joins the club

Lewes judo

Sensei Robin started judo back in the 1960s at the age of 14 at The Hut Dojo in Hillingdon Middx. where he was initially taught by Ken Williams 3rd Dan. As his judo career progressed he was then coached
by Kenshiro Abbe 8th Dan.
At the age of 16 he attended Grange Farm [ the British Judo Councils’s Summer School ] in Chigwell where he won the Brown Belt competition and was awarded 1st Dan which at the time
made him the youngest Black Belt holder in England.

At the age of 16 he was then asked to teach judo at the AEC Judo Club in Southall, Middx where he coached Seniors, Ladies and Juniors for 4 years.
He was awarded 2nd Dan by Masutaro O’Tani 7th Dan and in 1967 he fought at the British Championships and was runner up in the Dan Grade Lightweight Division.

Like many Sensei Robin is returning to Judo after a time away when he has concentrated on work and family. The Chance for our club to learn from his skills picked up at such an early age and taught like Sensei Ray by Kenshiro Abbe.

Welcome back to the mat.
