Locks are a way of using the body’s limitation’s against itself. Since joints do not have a full range of movement, there comes a point where they cannot bend any more without causing pain. By teaching awareness of these limitations, Ju-Jitsu is able to provide an effect means of controlling or incapacitating someone that does not leave them permanently injured.
