JuJitsu teaches a variety of strikes, including kicks and punches. Mostly, strikes are used for distraction before the application of a more powerful technique, rather than as a way of inflicting damage.

When used, strikes are directed to vulnerable points on the attacker’s body, to minimise the need for great strength or training.

There are jujitsu styles called Atemi Jujitsu that use more strikes to defend and disable.

Atemi (body blows)
Empi kata (elbow strikes)
