This involves the defending an attack by blocking, striking then  turning his or her hips, then placing his or her right leg in front of the attacker  and pulling downwards on their sleeve or arm with the left hand. Uke loses balance in a forwards direction and falls over Tori’s outstretched leg in a circular or wheel-like shape.

There are many variants of ashi-guruma taught in Ju-Jitsu. The hand and arm positioning can vary so that either the arm loops round the head or it goes under attackers arm to grasp the back.
