A whirling vicious chain can be frightening, but remember they’re a long-range weapon – and with momentum behind it, it is the end of the chain you need to worry about. The closer you are to an attacker then, the better as if  part of the chain near the attacker’s hand hits you, it’s hard for the chain to do you any damage.

Chains can come at you from a variety of directions, including a straight down attack, a back-handed attack and a whirling attack from the side. Ju-Jitsu teaches can teach you defences to all kinds of chain attacks.

Mifunes air throw is an excellent defence against the chain attack.
